Raspberry and Lavender

A client of mine, Michael Darby, played some great music for me last year, that he was writing for an upcoming Johnny Kim movie called Raspberry and Lavender.

He told me the amazing story of the writer/director Johnny Kim, and after I read Johnny's story on his website, I felt inspired and wanted to work with him.

I had been wanting to learn to design movie posters, so I just made it into an assignment for myself to learn all about the art of the movie poster.

I looked at thousands of posters from all over the world, and tried to figure out, without ever talking to Johnny, what kind of poster he'd want for his movie.

By the end though, I had so much fun designing movie posters, it didn't matter if he liked them or not.

But I did make some 8x10's of the unsolicited posters and had Michael Darby deliver them to Johnny Kim.

A few months later, Johnny himself called and told me that even though we had never spoken of his project, my posters were just what he was thinking, and the one at left, is now on his film's official website.
