Chuck Abdelnour, the City of San Diego's beloved City Clerk for 28 years, was honored with a retirement party on July 29, 2005, at the Bahia Hotel.
Friends, colleagues, officials, journalists and a belly dancer enjoyed tributes from those who worked with Chuck over the years.
Some of those in attendance were Bill Kolender, Harry Mathis, Sam Maloof, Bonnie Kane, George Stevens, Darrel Issa, Phil LaVelle, JW August, Bob Ottilie, and Nick Abdelnour, Chuck's son, and his wife, Christine Brun.
And of course, no party would be complete without Dion the famous gate crasher, who was selling books to the guests.
A special thank you to the fabulous Channel 8 cameraman Charlie Landon who filmed the event.
As public servants go, Chuck will be fondly remembered for his kindness and humor, not to mention his penchant for chocolate and cigars!
