For cities who think that a rescue and firefighting helicopter is a luxury, or an option; it isn't.
With San Diego's coastline... cliff rescues, and searches over water are some situations where Copter One's services are indispensible.
Not to mention that half of San Diego County nearly burnt down before this service was in full time operation... In 2003 the helicopter was on a lease: which ran out three days before the biggest fire in San Diego's history devastated thousands of people, and destroyed hundreds of homes.
Copter One is truly a valuable asset to San Diego's Fire Department operations.
